Although, on the surface, it seems like a fairly usual conceptual preview of a forthcoming car, Jaguar has also used the opportunity to showcase a new modular structure which will underpin many of its future models, the first of which has been confirmed as a 3 Series-rivalling saloon due in 2015.
The C-X17 concept itself – penned by Jaguar’s lead designer Ian Callum – intends to retain the sporting character displayed by modern Jaguars, yet offer the practicality of an SUV. The design is in keeping with the current line-up, suggesting that a production version of the crossover is not too far away.
Plucking the latest technology from across the existing range, the C-X17 also uses a 4WD system which sends 100% of power to the rear wheels unless the advanced traction control system suggests conditions require otherwise.
