Description
Chassis No. 246011493
Engine No. H5347731
According to information provided to Mr. Taylor at his acquisition, this 21-window nine-passenger Volkswagen DeLuxe Microbus was originally sold in California and eventually restored by its original owner with intention of taking it to Denmark. Fortunately, it remained in Southern California and was eventually acquired by the present owner.
The body is finished to an extremely high standard in Velvet Green and Pearl White with white U.S.-specification bumpers, matching the trim and paint tags, and exhibits good, consistent panel fit throughout. Inspection shows that even the engine compartment was finished like-new, with proper hardware and plating. The bodywork is excellent throughout with good gaps. Aluminum and painted trim throughout are in fine condition, and the interior is especially fine, with correct upholstery on the seats and door panels, correct VW-badged seatbelts, and square-weave carpeting in the rear. Even the floors are beautifully finished, indicative of the level of workmanship used throughout.
Accessories include a sliding sunroof in tan Stayfast material, storage console behind the front seat, AM radio with an additional period-correct AM/FM short-wave radio below the dashboard, clock, locking gas cap, and 'jail bars' on the rear windows. The folding side mirrors are original VW pieces, and the radio antenna and wiper arms are correct. Mechanically the bus features Sylvania headlights and upgraded KYB shocks, while the wheels are shod with Continental GT radial tires.
Recording 7,290 miles at the time of cataloging, this fully restored Microbus is the true embodiment of an era, meticulously finished and ready for a new owner to enjoy.
