We do know Pagoda's well and really do like them
Pretty to look at and endearing to drive too - hence we currently have 5 available for sale and have sold many in the past
This cracker is really a pleasure to behold, finished in her 'Coffee & Creme' livery and is more than presentable, with lustrous paintwork and freshly restored interior
She has some charming features, not least of which is the original, correct Becker Europa radio and the 4 speed automatic gearbox and standard power steering
We simply love her colour, (colour code 181) which is her original colour from when she was built in 1970 having been first registered in California on the 31st October
She has a lovely history file, mostly since 2001 when a chap named Paul Edward Steen, an attorney of Phoenix, Arizona began to document more thoroughly the works and story of the car. During his eight years of ownership, he not only used her sparingly but also rebuilt the engine exchanging the block but retaining the original cylinder head, rebuilt the fuel injection pump, automatic gearbox and brakes whilst replacing the soft top.
The seats have also been reupholstered in leather, with all this work done and documented in the history file around 2006 and 2007.
After Mr. Steen finished these works, the car was exported to Europe, specifically France in October 2008, by Mercedes-Benz specialist dealer Nicholas Brugier of Sport Leicht, Corbevoie.
Despite Mr. Steen's expense, Sport Leicht underwent a cosmetic refurbishment programme including a bare metal respray
The most recent owner, UK based, had long admired Pagodas and chose to travel to France to view her
Naturally he was blown away, not only by her beauty but the way she drove as well, which in turn enabled him to purchase her from Sport Leicht in December 2012
Upon importing her, she had her suspension attended too, by marques experts Roger Edwards Motors, who replaced the shock absorbers, the rear axle was stripped and all rubber suspension & steering bushes were replaced, as well as the brake lines.
Naturally, the engine was to US Federal spec, and a new European specified distributor was fitted. All this, is detailed in the lovely history file, along with regular servicing.
Having driven her near 100 miles towards our Battersea 'base', she didn't skip a beat, from motorways to backroads, to the city and its inevitable red lights. Just smooth the whole way.
A beautiful example, with a lovely story and in remarkable condition. The photographs are great, and amazingly she even looks better in the flesh and you are more than welcome to come and have a look
