The Mercedes-Benz C 36 AMG is the 1st AMG version of the C-Class W202 series.
On this car the 3.2-liter in-line 6-cylinder of the E 320 was transplanted, and then the displacement increased to reach 3,606 cc thanks to the increase in bore and stroke.
It is a high-performance version with the aim of establishing itself in the market based on the fame of the previous 190 Evo II, which however was produced in only 502 units.
In addition to a new component, Mercedes developed special pistons: the lubrication system is new, the exhaust and intake ducts and the timing of the distribution modified.
The C-Class, so tuned, reaches the remarkable power of 280 hp and a torque of 385 Nm.
The C36 AMG, reaches a good commercial success: from 1993 to 1997, 5,221 units were sold.
In 1996 it was used as the first AMG Safety Car in Formula 1, a tradition still in vogue today.
