Description
First produced in 1986, this final series in the AMV8 Vantage range was fitted with the 580X V8 engine that had been previewed as the powerhouse in the V8 Vantage Zagato. Despite the introduction of fuel Injection technology into the Aston Martin range, for the standard 585 specification engines. To reach the highest power possible for this model the use of four twin-choke down draught Weber carburettors were required to achieve the 432 Bhp output.
The X-Pack Vantage Volante of which only 109 examples were manufactured, can be easily identified by a number of styling enhancements: the larger air dam, ‘power bulge’ on the bonnet, Cibie front driving lamps integrated into a blanked-out front grille as well as full circumference wheel arch lips, side skirts and “Flip Tail” All of which aim to increase the aggressive stance of the X-Packs and sets it apart from the standard model.
This example originally supplied Aston Martin Sales Ltd on 1st September 1989 must be one of the last cars to be registered and no doubt drew much attention when delivered from our showroom in Cheval Place, London. Finished her original colour scheme of Windsor Blue with a Red leather interior, a striking and very elegant combination. With a Blue Mohair roof. The V8 Vantage X Pack Volante is one of the few convertibles that looks just as good with the roof up as it does with the roof down. Complete with it’s original Owner’s Manual, Service Book, Dealership Directory, Wiring Diagram, Service Schedule, and Original Warranty Documents, many of which are missing in many examples.
