Beschreibung
V8 power, four seats convertible and Michelotti styling – the noble Triumph Stag has it all.
Unlike its Spitfire baby brother, the Stag is more GT cruiser than back road daredevil, something that’s reflected in the multi-adjustable driving position; even the steering column can be tweaked for rake and reach. Triumph enthusiasts prefer the rarer manual version, but we reckon the automatic suits the car’s relaxed attitude rather better.
A good Stag can hold its own in modern traffic, plus it’ll seat four persons comfortably and carry their luggage. What’s remarkable about the Stag, which you notice quite quick, is just how torquey that V8 actually is. It’s not uber sporty, but the low-down delivery of torque below 4,000rpm, means you can cruise effortlessly along with one of the best V8 exhaust notes out there. Cynics say it distracts you from the car’s poor performance but the Stag is a GT that will drive happily all day at the legal maximum speed!
This 1976 Stag that Marreyt Classic Cars is offering was originally sold in Belgium according to its certificate of conformity. It is in exceptional original condition as the pictures clearly show and has 94.000 kms on its counter. The car comes with an excellent soft top + a factory hard top in good condition.
The Triumph Stag is a seventies time warp and utterly and completely not worthy of that bad reputation it gets. Like with any classic car, there are good ones and bad ones out there. Get a good Stag like this one, which has been given the right amount of TLC over the years, and you will be rewarded. One of the most underrated of all iconic British Classics. We love it!
