Engine: V8 – 4244cc – 390bhp
- Rare original color combination
- V8 engine developed by Ferrari
- Regular history
Based on the 3200 Spyder and introducing a new, naturally aspirated V8 developed by Ferrari, the 4200 Spyder is more than just a restyled 3200 Spyder. In terms of its appearance, the only disappointment concerned the boomerang-style rear lights which Maserati had to give up to meet the type approval requirements of the American market, where the make was set to make its comeback. Under the bonnet, the V8 now developed 390bhp and could rev out to 7600rpm, making it a joy to listen to. The six-speed manual gearbox was now mounted at the rear, while the optional ‘Cambiocorsa’ sequential transmission satisfied thrill-seekers thanks to the speed of its changes.. It should be remembered that this splendid coupé could be enjoyed four-up, with extensive standard equipment and in luxurious comfort.
The model we are presenting for sale is a Maserati 4200 Spyder Cambiocorsa delivered new on the 19th of March 2003 by Maserati Modena Sport Car dealer in Italy. It has the particularity to be presented in a rare combination of colours. The Giallo Granturismo yellow perfectly matches with the blue leather interior. After Italy, our Maserati came in the south of France joining the car collection of an enthusiastic car collector beside a Ferrari 456 GT and a rare Jaguar XJS cabriolet prepared by TWR. Wishing to start on a Delahaye 135 restoration project, the owner has decided to sell some cars. Mechanically, the car performs as it should, captivating the driver as its Ferrari V8 revs up. Showing only 64200 km on the odometer, the Cambiocorsa gearbox is going well. With an attractive estimate and as we approach sunny days, this is a chance to buy an unusual Maserati cabriolet with a regular history.
This car will be sold during an auction sale organized by AGUTTES Auction House.
It will take place in Paris, at the Espace Champerret, France, on March the 17th, 2019.
