Beschreibung

The 1950 Turin Motor Show car. Chassis number 421/100/112.

One of three similar cars built in 1950 for motor show use. This car went to the Turin Motor Show and was sold to its first owner in Italy after the show. Repatriated to the UK in 1976 by Colin Crabbe. Restored by Crosthwaite & Gardiner in the late 70's and displayed for a time in the Midlands Motor Museum.

Later owned by Aston Martin chairman Victor Gauntlett before moving to New Zealand for nearly 20 years in the hands of Bill Clarke who raced the car with great success. Maintained during his ownership by David Silcock and the renowned Auto Restorations of Christchurch.

Bill sold the car in 2008 to its last owner; the late connoisseur and collector Peter Giddings, and it joined his collection of great cars in California.

As one would expect of a car that has remained in the hands of such enthusiastic owners for decades, this Le Mans Rep is in beautiful condition throughout and makes a fabulous dual purpose road / race car that would be welcomed at many of the world's greatest motoring events. Most recently it was declared 'Car of the Year' at the 2020 Oulton Park Gold Cup Concours.

Always recognised as being something a bit special, every serious collection should contain a Le Mans Rep!
