Beschreibung

1962 Aston Martin DB4 Series 4 Vantage – Aston Martin Works Restored.

‘Born again’, best describes this astonishing DB4 Series 4 Vantage. Totally restored to ‘as new’ standards by the original manufacturer’s restoration operations, after spending 45 years off the road. Parked in a private garage in 1974 and kept off the road for 35 years, until being sold at auction in ‘barn find condition’ and stored thereafter, until being submitted to Aston Martin for total restoration in 2017.

Finished in production and delivered new in September 1962, to its first Channel Islands based owner, finished in period popular Dubonnet with Black hides and fitted with the rare Vantage engine option, 4 speed manual transmission, DB4GT instrumentation and Chrome wire wheels, as retained to today. Just 45 examples of the Series 4 Vantage were manufactured in total, of which 29 are in Right Hand Drive.

By 1964, ownership had changed to UK resident Mr Frederick Blain, who purportedly covered some 50,000 miles in the car, including a round trip to Moscow before removing the car off the road in 1975, storing it in private garaging. After owning the car for some 47 years in total, the last owner purchased this rare and desirable car from Blain’s estate via auction, before appointing the famed Aston Martin Works, to carry out a comprehensive and total restoration, commencing in 2017 and completed in September 2020.

Often referred to by Aston Martin afficionados as, the most desirable of DB4 model’s, this originally specified Series 4 Vantage, has received a ‘body-off’ total restoration, to it’s as manufactured standards. Carried out over 3 years, the Aston Martin Works team at Newport Pagnell, left no aspect of the car untouched in their pursuit of originality and excellence, as evidenced by the highly detailed pictorial and well chronicled restoration books, accompanying the car. A manufacturer’s ‘Assured Provenance’ certificate and reference book, issued on completion of the restoration is included in the sale.

Supplied, complete with original build data records, auction sale particulars with anecdotal notes, copied original ‘buff log book’’, an owners hand book, period correct vehicle Jack, tool roll and copper mallet, this superb example of the fabled Series 4 Vantage has covered less than 50 since the restorations completion.

This exceptional motor car is available for viewing and inspection, at our Hertfordshire showrooms now.
