Beschreibung

1929 Alfa Romeo 1750SS 3rd Series Supercharged Spider.
One of around 50 original Supercharged 3rd Series 1750SS’s. Original “Threesome” coachwork by James Young to the design of UK concessionaire Freddie Stiles. Research would suggest there were perhaps 4 or 5 cars with similar bodies – one other example resides in the Simeone Museum in the U.S.
Delivered new to Mr. Tweedale in the North of England at the beginning of 1930, the car has a well -documented history, including period photographs, and was also the subject of an “Autocar” magazine article in 1949. The last owner purchased the car in 1964 and owned it for over 50 years! He used it regularly and successfully in VSCC competition.
Sympathetically restored in recent years, including refinishing in its original colour which was discovered on protected parts of the chassis when the car was dismantled. On completion the car was issued with a new FIVA passport.
A supercharged 1750SS is one of the archetypical pre-war sportscars and the model enjoyed enormous competition success in period. Today, they are welcomed at all of the World’s most prestigious events and feature in most of the World’s significant collections.
