We have a magnificent 1959 Alfa Romeo 2000 Touring Spider. The Spider is a design by Bianchi Anderloni, Then head of design at Carrozzeria Touring. The car has a classical set-up of a longitudinally placed engine driving the rear wheels. All this mechanical beauty is cast in a brilliant Carrozzeria Touring designed bodywork. This splendidly presented example first hit the roads in 1959. Documents show that in 2017 over € 15,000.- was spent on a full engine rebuild. The car looks the part and drives as good as it looks.

The bodywork is in good and authentic shape with nice and thin, correctly aligned panelwork. The paintwork was resprayed for cosmetic reasons and adds to the overall good presentation. The easy to use hood is a good fit. All of the bright work too meets expectations.

The interior is likewise in good shape. The driver's seat has recently been reupholstered in black leather, with the passengers seat still completely original. In March 2021 the carpets were all replaced with ones in the original colouring. The dashboard has been very well looked after and has the right instruments and controls. All gauges are in good working order.

The previous owner took particular care when it came to maintenance. To keep the car’s performance in peak condition the aforementioned engine rebuild in 2017 was commissioned. During this process the

twin Webers were fully overhauled and perfectly retuned. The 2 lire 4-cylinder engine develops 113 Ps at 5,700 RPM. It has a top speed of 177 km/hr. The engine delivers its power through an accurately working manual 5-speed gearbox. Furthermore, this Alfa Romeo has front double wishbones with a live rear axle giving the car it's extremely fine handling properties. It has hydraulic operated drum brakes.

The car has been owned by the same person since 2002. He only used the car for pleasure in dry and sunny weather. This fetching Alfa has therefore remained in excellent condition and has been nicely documented throughout its life. A Fiva card as well as all recent invoices have been kept. This is not just a good looking car but due to the excellent care lavished over the last two decennia and an absolute joy to travel around in.
