With the 250 GTE, Ferrari has opened a new market, that of the 2+2 series. Many customers wanted to be able to take a family with them or simply to have space, it is so much more comfortable. The success was there, as it became the first Ferrari to have approached the 1000 mark. In January 1964, Enzo Ferrari officially announced the arrival of a new model to replace the 250 GTE 2+2. It is the 330 GT 2+2 with a more modern style and a 4000-cc engine, the ""Tipo 209"" with a unitary displacement of 330 cc which is presented as a direct descendant of the V12 of the 250. The gearbox has 4 speeds + MA and overdrive. The top speed is 245 km/h. The novelty has a front with 4 headlights and a large grille with a cutter. In the trunk there is a spare wheel and space for luggage. Inside, there is plenty of space in front and behind, a very complete dashboard with a steering wheel bearing the prancing horse. The car is a success and will be manufactured in 500 copies. The next version will have a 5-speed gearbox and the last one will have a modified front end with a single headlight. In the end, the 330 GT 2+2 will remain as the first model to have passed the 1000 mark with 1080 cars produced.
The model presented was sold new in the United States. It was first registered in 1964. This Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 was built in England and Luxembourg before arriving in France. It is well listed in the 330 GT registry, whose history starts from 1983 until today.
It has benefited from a complete restoration between 2011 and 2013. Its last owner drove it very little and maintained it meticulously. Maintenance invoices from Francorchamps Motors Luxembourg (Ferrari specialist) confirm the regular maintenance the car has received.
Our test drive was a pleasure, the V12 Colombo is a delight, each acceleration providing an adrenaline shot. The driving position is particularly enjoyable. Gear changes are quick and firm, reminding us of the vehicle's sporting vocation. The braking is well balanced, and the clutch slip point is perfectly adjusted. The steering is sharp and precise, and the interior of this Ferrari reminds us of the Italian know-how in terms of cockpit atmosphere. The light leather matches perfectly with the wooden dashboard and the grigio ferro met dresses this 330 in an elegant and sober way.
For any car enthusiast, the thrill of the Italian V12 Colombo is an experience not to be missed. The 330 GT 2+2 is not only beautiful and practical, but also an affordable ticket to Latin fever."
