The Ford Motor Company introduced the Lincoln Continental for the 1940 model year, basing the new model on a prototype commissioned by Edsel Ford. Utilizing Lincoln Zephyr mechanicals, the Continental was initially offered in coupe and convertible forms, and was the company’s most luxurious offering.

For 1958, the Continental Mark III offered the first all-new unibody design since WWII, and with a 131" wheelbase, the model was as large as anything offered by Ford before or since. Featuring diagonally placed headlights and distinctive, slanting rear “Breezeway” windows, the Continental Mark III is one of America’s most distinctive automotive designs of the 20th century.

This Mark III Convertible was purchased by Richard Donner in 2000 from the Westside Waldorf School, where it was believed to have been donated by the Wayans Brothers. It was subsequently relocated to Donner’s home on Orcas Island in Washington State, where it provided endless enjoyment as a stylish island runabout. Finished in white with a two-tone blue leather interior and black vinyl top, the car is in driver condition, having been maintained as part of Donner’s beloved collection.
