In the early 1950s, despite the export success of MG TD, the British manufacturer decided to update the model. For this, the lines are refined and the bodyshell is lowered. The headlights are integrated with the wings and the grille tilts. The whole is more modern than its predecessor and the very "pre-war" aspect of TD is attenuated. First powered by the XPAG 1250 cm3 already seen on the TD, the TF received in 1954 the XPEG 1466 cm3 engine. The power goes from 54 hp to 63 hp, which makes the light roadster even more efficient on the road.
Coming from the United States like most TF, our MG arrived in France at the end of the 1990s where it underwent numerous repairs and costs made for sealing with a new hood and sides-new screens and mechanical reliability thanks to the installation of a new radiator, a water pump, a dynamo and a new starter. The carburettors, brakes, and clutch have been overhauled to allow the car to turn properly.
Acquired in its history by the writer Charles Jackson, author of the best-selling «poison», this endearing little MG is the ideal compromise between a pre-war aesthetics and a modern mechanics.
