At the start of the 1941 model year, a chain of corporate decisions rechristened Cadillac as a single engine marque within the GM portfolio— a 346-cubic-inch, L-head V-8 producing 150 hp was now the sole powerplant across all Cadillac chassis. Other mechanical standardizations for the model year included the addition of a semi-floating rear axle and four-wheel hydraulic brakes. All of these major mechanical decisions were accompanied by an equally notable range-wide redesign penned by Harley Earl and his team that would direct Cadillac styling for years to come—a wider front eggcrate grille, integrated headlights, and trimmer modulations to the brand’s bodywork produced an all new modern theme that was received with pronounced acclaim then, and now.

This 1941 Coupe is a highly original ‘deluxe’ example offered in its mostly original black paint finish over an all original interior. Covers that had protected the seats from new were recently removed to reveal the mint original Grey broadcloth upholstery. The carpeting, interior trim and walnut adorned dashboard all present a patinated finish as one would expect for a low mile original car that has always been appreciated and well cared for. The ‘deluxe’ equipped coupes received a radio, electric lighter, and heater/ defroster module—all accounted for on this example. The column-operated hydra-matic transmission was introduced mid-year for 1941, and smoothly assists with sending power to a set of Vincennes-red and chrome trimmed ‘moon cap’ wheels presently shod in whitewall tires befitting of a period-correct appearance. Extensive chrome brightwork is mostly original and matches the overall presentation of this well-preserved survivor.
