Description
"There is purity to the 250 CE that, if you know your beans, can only have come from the pencil of Paul Bracq. He was brought in to refresh the line-up of Mercedes-Benz and he did that rather well. A subtle blend of modernisation and, simply, a good eye, heralded the 250 CE with its lowered roofline and lowered seats to maintain headroom. The windows wound down completely out of sight and the 2.5 litre, fuel injected, engine propelled this model up to a perfectly respectable 115mph.
First registered on November 16th, 1971, with fewer than 50 remaining registered on British roads, this uncomplicated Stuttgart coupé comes with the classic Mercedes-Benz colour combination of brown over cream. The interior presents in tan MB-Tex and tidy throughout. Some remedial welding took place in June 2017 and latterly, Broadley & Holmes, independent Mercedes-Benz specialists, undertook a gearbox oil service as well as the installation of new headlights, gearbox mounts and engine mounts just last year. The previous month, the same specialists replaced brake hoses and pads, oil, fuel and air filters, sparkplugs, fan belt, power steering belt and radiator hoses in addition to a new steering wheel, complete dashboard, period radio and glovebox. JDO Instruments refurbished the dials ensuring everything works as it should. The car itself was re-painted in 2018 and it will be presented at sale with an MoT test certificate expiring in June 2020, a full service by H&M in Ashford, specialists in German car mechanics as well as previous documentation and paperwork."
