The ultimate French GT
Engine and hydraulic systems adapted for improved reliability
The Citroën SM which we are offering for sale is one of the desirable versions fitted with three Weber carburettors. Purchased new in Paris, it was delivered to Bastia for Madame Marlène Coton, the first woman in the world to have managed the Citroën Sport team. It is presented in a most attractive combination of metallic sable brown paintwork (code AC318) and a brown leather interior. Having had only two owners since new, and with its present owner since 2008, this car benefits from a particularly stable ownership history; its second owner, a Citroën mechanic and member of the French Citroën SM Club, has always lavished the utmost care on the maintenance of his car. On the mechanical side, the 2.7-litre carburettor engine was overhauled 3700 miles ago and work undertaken to improve its reliability (timing chains, sodium-free valves and a strengthened oil pump). The clutch was also replaced. It is important to note also that the entire hydraulic system works impeccably and has been regularly serviced up to date (spheres and accumulator). The bodywork is in very good overall condition, as is the interior; the upholstery , carpets, headlining and dashboard are superb. And, the icing on the cake, it still has its original radio. The car we are selling comes with extensive documentation, including its original manual. Now much in demand, the SM is rarely seen on the market and is considered the ultimate expression of automotive haute couture from Citroën. Its styling and interior remain impressively modern, while its mechanical reliability issues have been overcome thanks to the many specialists in the model. In excellent overall condition, this SM is a great opportunity to discover a GT imbued with a radical charm, whose refinement and rarity are constantly driving up prices.
This car will be sold during the auction car sale organized by Claude AGUTTES Auction, which will take place in Lyon, France, on 14th April 2018.
