Description
Introduced in 1948, the Porsche 356 set new standards for lightweight sports cars. Produced until 1965, the 356 benefited from ongoing improvements, finally resulting in the SC, featuring Porsche’s most powerful road-going pushrod 1,600 cc engine.
According to the car’s original service book, this SC was ordered new through Brumos Porsche of Jacksonville, Florida, by Harold Zimdars, a Porsche mechanic who specified European delivery. The consignor states that the 356 was owned by two other enthusiasts before he purchased the very original car in 2005. After his purchase, the consignor commissioned a restoration by specialist 356 Works of Glenview, Illinois. The 356 expert Duane Spencer rebuilt the engine, while the rest of the car was disassembled and restored as needed. During the restoration, the interior was upholstered with materials sourced from well-known specialist Autos International and the Porsche’s wheels were widened by 1.5" to accept a more performance-oriented tire. A mere 500 miles have been added since. The 356 is accompanied by a jack, driver’s manual, and service book, along with receipts and photos of the restoration.
Exhibiting the finest traits of the 356 series, this SC Coupe benefits from a matching-numbers engine and gearbox and a professional restoration in stunning colors. This handsome example would be a great candidate for Porsche club events or simply a spirited drive down your favorite backroad.
