Triumph introduced its 100 mph TR2 in 1953. Cut-down doors, frog-eye headlights, and lively performance proved a winning combination, and 5,521 were exported. The TR3 arrived in 1955 and could hit 110 mph. When front disc brakes arrived in 1956, export sales tripled.

The beautiful example on offer is a later TR3, with the revised, high-port engine and front disc brakes. The current owner purchased this TR3 and commissioned a painstakingly detailed restoration. During the five-year process, parts were repaired or replaced with factory-correct items, including a rebuilt engine, gearbox, axles, steering, suspension, and brakes. Racing Green, and the brightwork was renewed. A custom top and proper side curtains were crafted to concours standards. The interior was reupholstered in contrasting Stone vinyl, with Wilton wool carpets and correct rubber floor mats. Electrical parts were rebuilt or replaced, including gauges and switches, and a new wiring harness and new rubber parts were installed. The gleaming TR3 earned a Best in Class at the Cincinnati Concours d’Elegance at Ault Park, and was named Best of Show at the 2016 Triumph Register of America meeting, then earned 99.5 points at the meet in 2017. The restoration is well documented and photographed, and the car comes with a factory build sheet, tool kit, and owner’s manual. This concours-decorated TR3 Roadster is poised for further exhibition or the open road.
