Where’s Wally?
With naval architecture by German Frers and construction by composite-component specialist Persico Marine, the new 44-metre, carbon-fibre Wally 145 is sure to be one sleek and surreptitious watercraft. Its 171-ton weight — nearly 100 tons lighter than similar mega yachts — is surprising, considering all the yacht has to offer, such as an owners’ area, two guest cabins, a galley, a salon, and three social cockpits, promoting the inside-outside living that Wally does so well. But this light weight, combined with its carbon fibre technology and architecture, makes the mega yacht’s top speed of 15 knots that much easier to achieve. Currently under construction in Massa Carrara, Italy, and with a launch date scheduled for May 2019, the Wally 145 will be a feast for the senses, especially when set to silent mode, with nothing to distract you from the wide blue ahead but the sounds of waves crashing and the wind whipping through your hair.
