CLEAR HISTORY - RECENT TECHNICAL CONTROL

FRENCH COLLECTOR title
Launched in August 1961, the Triumph TR4 is in the tradition of the small British sporty roadsters, pleasant to drive, inexpensive to buy and to run. Technically, the TR4 was based on tried and tested principles: a chassis with side members and a rear axle with rigid axles and leaf springs. However, in order to appeal to a wider audience, the British engineers have added some comfort features such as rising windows, a soft top that is easier to deploy and a rack and pinion steering system. The 2.2L engine already present on the TR3, accompanied here by two SU carburettors, allows to experience real sporty sensations magnified by the raucous sound coming from the exhausts. The TR4 has the classic, robust, separate chassis, with wider tracks (although the wheelbase is still reasonably short), as well as the engine. The real novelty was in the aesthetics and comfort of the car. At the dawn of the 1960s, it was clear that the archaic lines of the TR 3 outweighed the charm of its old-fashioned character in the eyes of its customers. Michelotti's rejuvenation of the design evokes the style of the 1960 Le Mans cars, but the young designer has created a superb baroque ensemble, whose originality gives the car a lot of character. In a word, a little masterpiece! The profile is striking with its massive flanks and straight lines like the square wheel arches. This silhouette makes the TR4 a virile car. The very expressive front end is dominated by the strength of the look underlined by the imposing size of the front bumper. The most sought-after model for collectors, the TR4A with IRS independent rear suspension was designed to keep up with the competition. These technical modifications gave the car extra comfort and better handling.
First registered in 1966, this Triumph TR4A IRS is presented today in beautiful condition. The white paint is stretched over the whole body while the black skai upholstery has a nice patina with no holes or tears. If the varnish on the wooden dashboard tends to be lacking, all the elements of the dashboard work.
Our car is sold with a file detailing the restoration carried out (with photos) as well as a technical inspection dated March 2021. The bodywork, gearbox and engine have been completely rebuilt. The consideration of these elements as well as our road test allow us to determine the reliability and the quality of conservation of this vehicle which only asks to drive and express its potential of sports roadster.
Ideal for the upcoming summer months, this British roadster is a great addition to your collection or a good start to a collection in the making.
