Description
Triumph TR3A (1961)
The Triumph TR3A meets all the requirements that can be placed on 'the classic British roadster'. With its graceful rounded shapes, chic chrome and characteristic frog eyes, the car has a friendly, yet very seductive appearance. This is not only an ideal classic for enthusiasts of sporty open motoring, but also for the owner who appreciates comfort and convenience. The lightweight Triumph TR3A offers plenty of space for two occupants, is powered by a high-torque engine and sits on a chassis that combines a smooth suspension with sharp responses. A perfect classic sportscar for regular use, both during relaxed touring as well as classic rallies.
Peet Classics is pleased to offer this beautiful 1961 Triumph TR3A. The car is in excellent condition, both technically and cosmeticly. The restoration of the car – in which all parts, from head to tail, were renewed, overhauled or replaced – was completed in 2007. This TR3A was built with a sharp eye for detail and originality, without any external modifications. After completion of the restoration, the TR3A was regularly used for sporty classic fun, and a lot of care and time was put into the maintenance of the car, to keep it in perfect condition.
In the summer of 1961, the Triumph TR3A was delivered to its first owner in Belgium. The car has had a Dutch registration since May 1969, but since then, it is said that little use has been made of the car. During the restoration it was decided to exchange the standard two-liter four-cylinder (95 hp) for the slightly more powerful 2138 cc engine from the later Triumph TR3B, equipped with an aluminum valve cover from TriumphTune. This power source delivers a power of 105 hp. With a registered weight of only 944 kilos, the Triumph can easily put down some very surprising performances. During the restoration, both the engine and the gearbox were thoroughly overhauled. If desired, an electric overdrive can be coupled to the gearbox.
Even though this Triumph TR3A is 60 years old now, it is still a very easy to drive and very usable sportscar. The TR3A offers a timeless combination of red paint, beautiful chrome accessories and an interior in black. The bucket seats are upholstered in black leather and finished with white piping, and offer a lot of comfort, as well as a pleasant support in faster bends.
This Triumph TR3A is a perfect car for an enthusiast who wants to drive straight away, but would rather not worry about the technical condition - or about the fragility of a brand new paint and chrome, after a long and expensive restoration. Peet Classics is happy to tell you more about this beautiful Triumph TR3A.
