Description

In 1984, the MR2 debuted from Toyota as the first mass production midship car produced in Japan. Toyota had been focusing on young people with a passion for driving and released the MR2 which borrowed parts from the E80 type Corolla to optimise mass production while keeping costs as low as possible.

In 1986, a model equipped with a supercharged 4A-GZE type 1.6L in-line 4-cylinder DOHC 16V engine was unveiled, further enhancing the status of this car as a sports car.

This model is the MR2 (AW11), North American spec, meaning the driver’s seat is on the left, and the speedometer shows both miles and kilometers per hour. The engine is the 4A-G equipped with a supercharger. This 4A-G supercharged engine was only for domestic Japanese use and was unavailable in the North American market so the owner imported this car into Japan and replaced the engine at 68,000km. The mileage after replacing the engine is about 300km. Therefore, the odometer display of 152,500km is the mileage of the body.

Other aftermarket additions was a change to an external muffler, and equipping the interior with Nardi steering and Recaro seats.
