Description
The "3rd generation Crown" was remodeled from the 2nd generation with the aim of representing "Japanese beauty" in 1967. In 1968, the 3rd generation Crown was the first Crown to add a 2-door hardtop model, which was touted as a personal car, to dispel the strong image of the Crown being a company car or a public car.
The square headlights combined with a sedan-like body line and centre pillar married well the sporty impression of the two door model with the image of the Crown being a luxury car. The Crown 2-door hardtop was the first 2-door model in the domestic 2L class and its luxury style became the symbol of success for the younger crowd.
This particular model is an early 1968 model. Although the emblem and plated parts have deteriorated over the years, there is no major damage to the light blue bodywork. The bonnet is also equipped with a dummy air duct, adding an air of sophistication.
There are no major tears in the interior door panels or seats, and the steering wheel and shift lever remain in their original condition. Equipped with an additional tachometer that gives off a strong presence, it makes you feel that it is a car that was loved by the owner at that time.
As the car has sat indoors in storage for many years, it requires full recommissioning to run. This model is also rare in that in 1969, the headlights and grill were changed so there are few examples like this. The odometer points to 27,927 km.
