If you are looking for high performance in a Mini shape then it’s the Downton name you need to look for. This example is unusual as it is the last genuine Downton conversion carried out to a then new Rover Mini, having delivery mileage only. It was originally purchased from a European Rover dealer as a lefthand drive car and delivered to Downton where it had a number of upgrades carried out. These included, the 1310cc "Clubsport” engine conversion which sees the original 1275 unit stripped, rebored with upgraded pistons, a balanced crankshaft, rods and lightened flywheel.
