Description

1925 Rolls-Royce Springfield Piccadilly Roadster | Odometer showing 46664 miles. The majority of the American Rolls-Royce Silver Ghosts produced in Springfield, Massachusetts carried closed coachwork that was heavy and formal, albeit beautifully constructed and finely detailed. Lightweight sporting bodies for the Silver Ghost were rare indeed, but they did exist. Most prominent was the Piccadilly Roadster coachwork provided by Massachusetts coachbuilder Merrimac under the Rolls-Royce Custom Coach Work label. One hundred and five examples of the Piccadilly were produced for Springfield Silver Ghosts, followed by another 45 on the successor Phantom I chassis. Features on this particular piece include a rumble seat and 3rd access door. An older restoration powered by a 7.4-liter inline six-cylinder engine, which actually produced as much as 85 horsepower by 1925, mated to a manual transmission. VIN#S232PK. This Bank seized vehicle will sell at public auction on Saturday, June 25th. Location: Barber Motorsports Museum in Birmingham, Alabama, USA. www.hendersonmotorseries.com for all the details. Offered without reserve.
