This is a remarkable example of the early 20/25, with a magnificent body of an ingenious design known as a ‘Transformable’, an early form of detachable hardtop. The whole of the sedanca or town car top is removed by unfastening just four bolts and the landau irons, leaving the car as a completely open tourer. Howard ‘Dutch’ Darrin was one of the greatest of all car designers, and made some of the most beautiful luxury cars of all, but what is less well-known is that he was responsible for some remarkable technical advances too.
