Description
"1999-2002 RENAULT CLIO V6 TROPHY
Serial number Renault Sport 143A MOC
Ex-F. Walfish
Participation in V6 Trophy
Competition car without registration
Tradition obliges at Renault, the brand proposes to its customers to buy a single-seater modelled on the small sedan in production. The adventure begins with the R8 Gordini and the eponymous cup which results from it in the 1960s. When the second generation Clio was introduced in the late 1990s, a production model was unveiled to the general public with beastly, sporty features: the Clio V6.
With its enlarged bodywork and rear mid-engine position, the Clio V6 is a tribute to the R5 Turbo, which caused a lot of damage in rallies in the 1980s with great drivers at the wheel.
Very quickly the elaboration of a trophy settles around this new bodybuilt Clio called soberly Clio V6 Trophy with the lightening of 260 000 francs of the wallet of the buyers and the delivery of their new toy.
The car is aesthetically very close to the production model but has undergone profound mechanical transformations to go from a comfortable sports car to a raging race car:
-changing the meters
-installation of a single bucket seat
-installation of an aluminum roll bar
-removal of the front and rear lights
-installation of a competition harness
Thanks to these modifications, the V6 Trophy model loses almost 100 kg and adds 50 horsepower to the 3.0L V6 thanks to some adjustments.
Our example raced with the French driver Fabrice Walfish for the Lompech team in the Clio V6 championship in 2002 during which he finished 7th in the trophy.
Considered difficult and devious, the driving of this Clio has surprised many, including some of the big names in the automotive world who made their classes on this model.
Today, the car is a beautiful Sirius yellow and has been taken over by various sports teams who will try to make it race, to have it serviced and to change the parts if necessary.
A great entry ticket for young aspiring drivers or seasoned professionals, this Clio is a lot of fun. "
