Description
In 1969, Porsche added performance and refinement to its top-of-the-line 911 S model. A lengthened wheelbase provided improved weight distribution, while slightly flared bodywork accommodated wider wheels. A new Bosch mechanical fuel-injection system – combined with tuned intake runners, higher compression, and an electronic CDI ignition – made for one of the most sporting 911 variants to date.
This fine example tastefully embodies that performance aesthetic, with rally-inspired hood and deck lid stripes, along with Cibié driving lights. An additional unadorned hood is included in the sale for those who wish to return the car to a stock appearance. The 911 retains its matching-numbers engine per its certificate of authenticity, is finished in its original color of Light Ivory, and features black sport seats with corduroy inserts. In 2010, Porsche specialists German Tech Inc. of Largo, Florida, restored the 911, a process that included an engine rebuild and work on the transaxle, suspension, brakes, chassis, and body.
Over the past 10 years, this 911 S has been used sparingly as part of The James G. Hascall Collection. The combination of a long-wheelbase chassis and free-revving two-liter engine make the 911 S model one of the most satisfying vintage sports cars ever to come from Stuttgart, and this example would represent an exciting addition to any discerning collection.
