Description
A swan song for the model, the Porsche 996 Turbo S was a one-year-only model introduced in 2005. Built in limited numbers, the Turbo S was distinguished from the regular Turbo by standard Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), six-disc CD changer, aluminum-faced instrumentation, quad exhaust pipes, badging, and an X50 power kit which increased output from 415 to 444 hp. Zero to 60 mph in four seconds and a quoted top speed of 190 mph placed the Turbo S firmly in supercar territory for the time.
Finished in Arctic Silver over a black full leather interior, this example is one of 186 Turbo S coupes built for the US market in 2005, and one of even fewer with a six-speed manual Transaxle. In addition to already high levels of standard equipment, this Turbo S was generously optioned with heated hardback sport seats, crested headrests, thicker steering wheel, embossed storage compartment lid, 18" Sport Techno wheels, aluminum and leather shifter and hand brake, and other custom tailoring. A rare, factory-installed Turbo Aerokit added a fixed rear spoiler, and a more pronounced front splitter.
Offered from a significant private collection, this Turbo S presents beautifully today, showing less than 16,000 miles and accompanied by books, tools, spare, and keys. This sale presents an opportunity to acquire an ideally equipped, one-year-only 996 Turbo flagship that will become only more collectible as the years go by.
