Description
Although the design remained largely unchanged, the 356 advanced significantly over the course of its 15-year production run. The first sports car to wear the Porsche nameplate progressed from its original “Pre-A” era, through the 356 A, 356 B, and finally culminated with the 356 C.
Completed on November 9, 1964, this example features the final T-6 body style, four-wheel disc brakes, and a top-of-the-line 95 hp SC engine. Confirmed by its original service book, the car was sold new via Kinnebrew Motors in Tallahassee, Florida, to James and Marilyn Carlisle. Originally finished in Light Ivory over red leather, it was optioned with Dunlop tires and Coco mats. Circa 1966, it was purchased by Burt Norris, longtime Porsche enthusiast and engineer at Pratt & Whitney, in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. At the request of his wife, the car was repainted in Champagne Yellow. It remained in their meticulous care for over 50 years, during which time Mr. Norris performed all service work and oversaw an engine rebuild.
When it was time to sell, Philip Bagley, owner of Klub Sport Racing Inc. in West Palm Beach, Florida, purchased the SC Cabriolet. In addition to a thorough service and detailing, the interior was re-trimmed with correct square-weave carpets and Connolly leather hides. A well-documented example in stunning condition, this SC Cabriolet exemplifies the pinnacle of 356 production and is now ready for its next caretaker.
