Description

Introduced in 1948, the lightweight and nimble 356 was Porsche’s first production automobile, and Stuttgart continuously improved it throughout its run, which lasted until 1965. Introduced at the 1963 Frankfurt Auto Show, the 356 C incorporated changes over the already significantly enhanced 356 B, including a squared-off hood, a gas filler on the right fender, and ATE disc brakes.

This lovely 356 C Cabriolet was ordered new by Stuart Sherman of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, from German Motors in February 1965. Finished in Champagne Yellow over Red leatherette, additional equipment included a tinted windshield, chrome wheels, hubcaps with crest, KONI shock absorbers, left outside mirror, dealer-installed air-conditioning, and a factory-installed 12-volt electrical system. James G. Hascall purchased the 356 C from the Sherman family in 1997, and it has since been maintained in his collection, with receipts on file for cosmetic attention and significant mechanical work by Porsche specialist German Tech of Largo, Florida. It retains its matching-numbers engine according to its certificate of authenticity; the car also is accompanied by books, tools, jack, spare, car cover, and Leitz luggage rack.

This 1965 356 C Cabriolet presents in fine condition, and with a fully lined top and disc brakes, it represents an especially appealing motoring experience for its next owner.
