At Peugeot, Coupés and Cabriolets designed from saloon cars are a tradition. After the 203 and 403, Peugeot calls on Pininfarina for the 404, which creates a different bodywork from the one of the saloon model. With the success we all know followed. With the 504 launched in 1968, the manufacturer from Sochaux confirms the rules and metamorphoses a quiet four-door sedan into an elegant coupe worthy of the productions transalpines. If the shape evolves during its career, it will keep the elegance of the initial design. Produced from 1969 to 1983, this car is becoming increasingly popular with collectors looking for an elegant and comfortable convertibleFrench car. In 1974, the top-of-the-range version with a V6 engine, the first Peugeot to benefit from this 2.7-litre engine developed jointly with Renault and Volvo. Combining power and reliability without compromising the elegance that has characterised it since its launch in 1969, less than 1,000 copies were produced.
The model that we present for sale is accompanied by a meticulously crafted file supplemented and completed by its successive owners. Sold new in Finistère, the first invoices date back from 1984 and attest to regular maintenance by two specialists of the brand in Brittany and Normandy, more precisely in the Cotentin region, at the Hardel garage, which was then run by the brother-in-law of the owner of the vehicle. Its second owner will take possession of it in November 1996 and will keep it preciously until November 2006. A large number of invoices and a summary of the kilometres travelled make it possible to follow the history of this car until its 3rd owner from 2006 to 2014 in Belgium. The car then received a restoration completed in 2011, including a new interior designed by Iriks in Breda Netherlands, a specialist in this model. A book retracing the entire restoration will be given to the purchaser as well as a very important file of invoices and an original brochure of the model. Beautiful from all angles and running perfectly, this Peugeot 504 Cabriolet V6 is the 492th built out of the 977 V6 produced. Offering 4 real seats for open-air tourism, this car should seduce the most demanding car collectors.
