When introduced for the 1907 model year, Packard’s Model 30 was proudly advertised as “The only Packard model!” Continuing in production until 1912, Packard incorporated improvements. Only in its final year was the Five-Passenger Phaeton model offered on the longer 129.5" wheelbase chassis, featuring a deep cowl and extended rear compartment.

The owner states that this is believed to be the only known existing 1912 Model 30 Phaeton on the long wheelbase and features very limited ownership history. Over a century ago, with its original owner in Canada, it was properly cared for by a chauffeur and secured in a garage. In 1918, it passed to Russell Boyd of Ottawa and was last used by him in 1932. It remained in the Boyd family until 1978, when it passed to its current owner. A five-year comprehensive restoration was completed in 1984, followed by regular enjoyment by the current owner’s family.

In 2016, this Model 30 was treated to a thorough reconditioning, including new paint and brass plating. Finished in the open Packard color combination of a dark blue body with black fenders and hood, the frame and wheels contrast with gray paintwork, and the interior is properly finished in black leather. Today, the Packard is ready to be enjoyed on touring events or presented on the concours field. With so few of the fabled Model 30s surviving, this supremely rare Five-Passenger Phaeton is among the most special of all.
