In 1950, the Mercedes Benz Charles Delecroix dealership was created and set up near the Champs Elysées. He will be the official importer of the brand for France. The car presented here is one of the rare 190 SL sold new by the latter. According to the history we have and the Mercedes archives of the time, it leaves the factory in July 1962 and will be put into circulation on July 30 of the same year. According to research carried out by one of its owners, it was ordered by the director of Radio Luxembourg. Hellblau DB334 colour and Havana leather interior, the presentation is of rare elegance and recalls a combination of colours available on the 300 SL. Its first owner kept the car until 1976, then the second from 1976 to 2000 and was then sold to an amateur who kept it until 2016. This is how the current owner bought it, whereas the car has never been restored except for new paint about ten years ago. To date, the 190 SL has approximately 67,000 original kilometers. The car was never dismantled or restored, the engine is still the original one, n° 12192810002859, no traces of welding are visible under the body, the floors are original and the alignment of the doors are absolutely perfect. This is a surprisingly fresh car that we have in front of us. The mechanics were completely restored between 2017 and 2018 according to the rules of the art: redrilled engine block, new pistons, rebuilt cylinder head, new valve timing, new clutch etc.... it is during this major general overhaul that new carburetors are installed. Weber 40 DCOE literally transform the 190's engine and provide a very significant torque increase. Inside, the rare original Becker Europa radio set is present and perfectly functional, as is the watch fixed on the door of the glove compartment. The seats and the soft top were restored by the former owner. The leather used is of very high quality. In the list of the latest expenses we can mention the new Michelin tires, the replacement of fuel lines and the fuel pump. In the test the Mercedes drives without any parasitic noise or play in the running gear, the engine still running is incredibly torquey, and the new brakes are effective. It is certainly one of the most beautiful 190 SLs we have ever seen and tried. An expert report by A. Séné in January 2019 brought the value of the car to €130,000.
