Description
French registration papers
- Documented history
- Reliable engine with good performance
- Designed by Paul Bracq
The Mercedes W114 and W115 were introduced in 1968 to succeed the W110 series. They were produced until 1976, when they were replaced by the W123. The coupé version designed by Paul Bracq was first shown in 1969. It was fitted exclusively with the six-cylinder 230, 250 and 280 engines. With its understated lines, chrome radiator grille and vertical headlamps characteristic of Mercedes’ designs in the late 1960s, the W114 was a modern, reliable car which could carry its passengers at speeds of up to 124mph (200kph).
The model which we are offering for sale is a 250 CE coupé delivered new in Saint-Etienne by the Degaudenzi Mercedes dealership on 7 November 1969. Always registered in the Loire department, it has been in the ownership of the same family since 1987. It is in good overall condition and its white bodywork is combined with a leatherette interior and black carpets. The interior has been well preserved and the odometer is showing 111,000km (69,000 miles), which is undoubtedly its original mileage. With a twin-cam engine and fuel injection, the 250 CE develops 150bhp. This coupé comes with its service book and owner’s manual. In May, an engine oil change was carried out and the rear brake callipers were refurbished. Some signs of corrosion are apparent on the sills and chassis, but the car remains in sound condition overall. With its documented history and good performance, this coupé will make an ideal companion for family excursions or historic rallies.
This car will be sold by auction by AGUTTES Auction House, in Paris, at the Espace Champerret, France, on June the 23th, 2019.
