Description
"Premièred at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 1965, the initial model line-up of the W 108 consisted of the 250 S, 250 SE, and 300 SE, as well as a sole W 109, the 300 SEL. Engines for the new car were carried over from the previous generation, but enlarged and refined. The 250 S was fitted with a 2496 cm³ straight-six M108 engine delivering 130 bhp which accelerated the car to 62 mph in 13 seconds and gave a top speed of 113 mph but was superseded by a 2.8 litre M130, the ultimate variant of the mid-sized six, obtained by increasing the bore by 4.5mm. The result was the maximum practical enlargement of the engine. Approximately 130,000 of the 250 S/SE models were built during the first two years of the W 108/109's existence.
This very well presented example of the 250S Mercedes-Benz saloon originally resided in Greece in the custody of a very successful Greek businessman and as such has benefitted from upgrades and the warmer dry climate; hence its condition today. As ascertained from the Mercedes-Benz dating certificate, the car was originally registered in Germany 1967 and was imported to the UK in 2018 by DD Classics for a collector in Windsor, Berkshire where, apart from an owner change to a lady over the river in Eton, the car has remained since. Housed in an underground carpark, this car is described as rust free and the paintwork appear unblemished. The interior trim is in wonderful order with the woodwork as new and upgraded leather trim even on the dashboard provides a very opulent feel. Boasting the 2.8 litre engine and optional LPG fuel system should you wish to use coupled to air conditioning this is a very good example of a collectable Mercedes-Benz and is offered with UK V5C and import documents which include the compulsory MoT (no advisories) and other Greek papers.
Interested parties should note that this vehicle has just been issues a new MoT test certificate by SS Motors, a Mercedes-Benz specialist.
