Description

The famous G Wagon is well known for its luxurious interior and off-road capabilities but it was originally developed as a military vehicle. The “G” stands for “Geländewagen”, German for off-road/all-terrain vehicle. The G500 4x4² is perhaps the ultimate variant, combining luxury and amazing off-road performance.
It takes the portal axles from the G 63 AMG 6x6 and removes one of them and combined with the 22-inch wheels result in a ground clearance of 450mm and a wading depth of up to a metre. There are two spring/damper struts that are parallel to each other per wheel, with this setup there are no compromises as it can overcome any obstacle, provide a comfortable ride and even a sport mode for a more planted driving experience on asphalt, with this setting it can put down more of the power from the twin turbo 4-litre V8. While the G Wagon made a dramatic shift from military vehicle to luxury SUV, Mercedes has not forgotten its roots as a car with exceptional off road performance.
While it has a rugged exterior, the interior is lavishly upholstered in leather and Alcantara which is a great contrast but means it's a great place to be. This example has the Harman Kardon sound system and has covered just over 500km.
