Description
Chassis No. SALDH1288PA916537
In 1983 Land Rover introduced its next generation model, the 110, later dubbed the Defender, based upon a steel ladder chassis with lightly modernized alloy bodywork, coil springs at all four corners, a lockable center differential to provide permanent four-wheel-drive, wider axle tracks, and accommodating larger wheel arches. The Defender became an off-roading legend, and many continue to plow their way through the backwoods and deserts of the world today.
A vehicle retail information report in the file indicates that this Acrylic White Defender was built on May 8, 1992, and originally sold to Bruce Wagner of Los Angeles by the well-known dealer Hornburg Jaguar on November 26, 1993. Following at least two intervening owners in the state of Texas, it was sold by longtime servicing dealer Land Rover Austin on April 24, 1999, with 66,164 miles recorded, to Jim Taylor. A longtime Land Rover enthusiast, since long before he began gathering automobiles seriously, Mr. Taylor much enjoyed the vehicle and has kept it since, as one of the longest-term acquisitions in his ownership.
Having recorded 81,682 miles at the time of cataloging, this Land Rover remains in enjoyable condition, showing some age and use throughout. It is equipped with a roof rack, roll bar, and grille guard, as well as a nine-passenger interior with folding rear seats, houndstooth-type cloth upholstery, and tire tread-style rubber mats. Beefy Goodyear Wrangler tires provide support at all four corners. Accompanying is the aforementioned report as well as service records dating back to the 1990s.
This is a most appealing Defender for the enthusiast of classic Land Rovers.
