Description

The Jaguar E-type Series One is quiet simply one of the most outstanding machines ever made, and this 1961 model is one of the earliest and purest examples of the model, painted in one of the most desirable colour combinations of them all Opalescent Silver Grey with Red leather trim.
The Jaguar E-Type truly took the world by storm when it was unveiled at the Geneva motor show in 1961 so much so that the now legendary development driver Norman Dewis was tasked with driving a second car directly from the factory in Coventry to Geneva through the night to cope with the demand.
The looks of the car where truly breath-taking especially considering what was commonly available at the time, but what probably amazed people even more was that the car genuinely had the performance to back up the good looks, being capable of 150 MPH in standard form.
Jaguar had taken a lot of their knowledge from their numerous Le-Mans wins in the pre dating C-Type and D-Type models and created a genuinely fast and informative drivers car, that still enthrals even today.
The 3.8 Litre engine had proven very reliable during these endurance races and with being the first company in the world to develop discs brakes for cars on the D-Type, they now had the ability with the help of Dunlop to offer a car that stopped as well as it went.
The E-Type continued to be developed until its demise in 1974 albeit for many people these first cars remain the purest to form and the most desirable of all the models.
This car was ordered by a very lucky Danish customer from new and was delivered via the dealer Sommer in Copenhagen in December of 1961 only 9 months after the car was first launched, and hence was only the 248th LHD fixed head coupe to have been produced.
Incredibly the car purportedly had the same owner for 43 years before being acquired by a significant Danish Collection in 2016 who then set about having the car restored back into its original period correct colours as you see it today. A great deal of effort was put into returning the car back into the specification the factory had originally created, as with many early cars it had been upgraded along the way.
Since the restoration was completed in 2016 the car has been stored in a climate-controlled building as part of a prominent collection and has been started and moved on a regular basis. Due to this the car remains in outstanding condition still and represents an almost unique opportunity for a Danish customer to acquire an E-Type that was Danish from new. The look feel and sound of a Jaguar E-Type remains almost unsurpassed still and this car is just waiting to be enjoyed by a new owner.
