Description

According to FoMoCo folklore, Henry Ford issued a standing order that his workers set aside special cuts of wood harvested from his Iron Mountain forest. Bird’s-eye maple was a rare find, and Mr. Ford would not allow pieces to be used until a sufficient amount had been collected to complete an entire car. Once finished, he would reward a favored dealer or a special friend with a wagon of unmatched beauty.

This 1947 V-8 Super Deluxe has been restored with similar bird’s-eye maple timbers, which exhibit a shimmering depth to the grain. Joining the consignor’s collection in 2003, its restoration was completed by the widow of its former owner and still presents beautifully today. Finished in a metallic version of Maize Yellow, the presentation of this Woodie is simply superb. Inside, three rows of benches provide comfortable seating for eight.

Expertly maintained, this charming station wagon has received recent attention to the fuel, cooling, and braking systems and is said to start on the button each time it is called upon. The current owner has enjoyed exhibiting this beautiful Woodie at several local shows throughout his tenure with the car.

With such undeniable visual appeal, it is no wonder that it always draws an appreciative crowd. For anyone looking to add a classic Woodie to his or her collection, this stunningly detailed flathead Ford is an outstanding choice.
