Description

Chassis No. ZFFFC60A270151849

Named for the track where modern Ferraris are developed, the 599 GTB Fiorano featured muscular styling inspired by the renowned 365 GTB/4 Daytona, carried out in aluminum with a naturally aspirated, 6.0-litre V-12 on an all-new chassis. The engine was derived from that of the revered Enzo, and the 599 GTB Fiorano nearly matched that famed machine in performance, offering 612 bhp and 448 lb/ft of torque.

This model was designed to not only be immensely fast on its feet, however, but exceptionally comfortable, as well, and extremely rugged and durable – a fact that Ferrari proved by allowing various automotive journalists to drive a pair of the cars on the road trip of a lifetime from Brazil to New York City, a 20,000-mile trip that both cars completed successfully. There have been few better modern Ferraris.

Jim Taylor's Rosso Corsa example, sold new by Ferrari of Central Florida in Orlando, was one of just 30 599 GTB Fioranos produced with a six-speed manual transmission, by this time a great rarity even with Ferrari; only 20 of these were sent to the North American market. In addition, this car was optioned with Beige leather Daytona seats, featuring body-color inserts, as well as a leather headliner, additional carbon fiber interior trim, 6-CD changer, electrochromatic mirror, navigation system, front fender Scuderia shields, carboceramic brake system with red calipers, and 20-inch Monolithic rims. At the time of cataloging, it had covered just 24,806 miles, and has recently had the 'sticky buttons,' a common malady of Ferrari dashboards in this era, professionally corrected. It is accompanied by its window sticker, a service file with invoices from before and during Mr. Taylor's careful ownership, as well as the original car cover in its bag.

A 599 GTB Fiorano with the six-speed transmission is almost impossible to find, as they so seldom trade on the market. Finished in very classic colors and well-preserved throughout in the care of a true enthusiast, this one is ripe for the choosing.
