At the 1971 Geneva Salon, Ferrari introduced the 365 GTC/4, the latest in an evolution of grand touring coupes. With a body designed and built by Pininfarina, the 365 GTC/4 was powered by a development of the Daytona’s 4.4 liter V-12 that utilized sidedraft carburetors, allowing for a lower hood line. In production for only 18 months, the 365 GTC/4 was produced in a modest quantity of just 500 examples. In terms of rarity, this places the model in the same terrain as limited-production supercars like the Enzo and LaFerrari.
Benefitting from long-time proud ownership by a handful of enthusiastic Ferraristi, this beautifully presented 365 GTC/4 boasts a life of minimal driving use and consistent maintenance. Chassis no. 16127 is believed to be one of only 67 examples that were equipped with right hand drive, further enhancing its rarity.
Reportedly delivered new in February 1973 to a buyer in Singapore, the 365 was moved to Hong Kong over the following 14 years. It is important to note that the car’s exorbitant first-registration tax in Hong Kong (roughly 135 per cent of the car’s value) has already been paid, offering a significant savings to any buyers interested in returning the car to Hong Kong.
While still displaying less than 16,000 miles of use, the Ferrari was purchased in early 1987 by a Hong Kong-based dealer called Italian Motors Ltd., and subsequently treated to a substantial restoration. In addition to a mechanical renewal, the exterior was finished in Blu Ribot metallic paint, and the interior was trimmed in black leather. Soon thereafter the 365 was sold to Dr. Ross Connell of Hong Kong, a dedicated member of the local Ferrari Owner’s Club, and he regularly returned the car to Italian Motors for service and maintenance as needed.
Circa 1994 Dr. Connell exported the GTC/4 to the United Kingdom, and five years later he sold the car to a fellow Ferrari enthusiast based in Great Britain. More recently acquired by the consignor, chassis no. 16127 has been maintained over the past three years by the marque experts at DK Engineering. Carefully garaged and serviced as needed, the 365 has only been used a handful of times by the consignor, including participation in the Ferrari Classic Cavalcades in 2018 and 2019.
Currently displaying a desirable 34,762 miles on the odometer, this wonderfully maintained Ferrari offers significant rarity, and would be a perfect acquisition for marque enthusiasts based in Hong Kong.
