Official supplier to the Royal Family of England between 1903 and 1950 Daimler has long enjoyed a reputation for excellence. Produced between 1937 and 1940, the Type EL 24 was powered by a 3.3L 6-cylinder overhead valve engine, mated to the brilliant Wilson pre- selector gearbox. The car on offer was bodied as a limousine by Windovers, and was registered new on January 24, 1939 by the one who in 1941 would become the general manager of General Electrics Company in England. Thanks to its original registration papers, we can trace the chain of owners until the end of the 1960s. In April 1980, it was bought at an auction by a French collector who gave the car a comprehensive restoration as can be seen by the many invoices that comes with the car. We can only appreciate, with the hindsight of years, the quality of the work carried out. Between 1996 and 1997, the engine was rebuilt so that unleaded could be used. Equipped with 4 hydraulically lifting cylinders, a stainless-steel exhaust system and a tailor-made protective cover, just 710 units of the rare Daimler were ever produced in all versions. It has not been driven for ten years and, as such, should be given a restart and a service. The beautiful restoration that this Daimler has received particularly highlights the opulence of its finish.
