The Citroën Rosalie was presented at the 1932 Paris Motor Show. The car is called by its number of tax horses as was customary at that time: Citroën 8, 10 or 15 depending on the engine chosen by the customer. The Rosalie was available in sedans, convertibles, coupe and even utility vehicles to cover all the automotive markets of the time. Citroën will try to boost the Rosalie range with a sports programme aimed at breaking the average speed records set by little Rosalie in 1933: 300,000km are covered at an average speed of 93km/h on the Montlhéry ring. Still with the aim of boosting the range, Citroën opted in January 1934 for a restyling of the car's line through a bodywork kit produced by Bertoni and called NH (New Clothing): bib wings, inclined grille, curved bumpers... allow Rosalie to offer a modern line in line with the fashion of the Modern Streamline. A few months later, it is the appearance of the Rosalie B which is noticed by its independent front wheels, we now speak of Rosalie A for the Rosalie with rigid axle. But already, we know at Citroën that the Rosalie is more or less condemned by the imminent arrival of the Traction, all efforts are devoted to this car that appeared in mid-1934.
The Rosalie presented here is a 10A version, therefore equipped with the 4 cylinders, with Torpedo bodywork. It benefits from the restyling carried out by the designer and sculptor Flaminio Bertoni. Recently the mechanics have been revised to ensure reliability because the collector and current owner likes to be able to drive his cars. The restoration is old but of high quality and has a nice patina. The two-tone paint is in line with the fashion of the time, which consisted in painting the body and wings in a different colour. The soft top is in very good condition as well and has no tears. The upholstery and interior fittings are in accordance with the factory specifications, without any taste defects. This version is rare for sale and deserves to be rediscovered. It is indeed an interesting compromise between a sedan and a convertible.
