A real bomb at the 1955 Paris Motor Show, the Citroën DS revolutionized the world of the automobile. Apart from the engine taken over from the Traction, the DS innovates on almost everything: high-pressure braking, fully hydraulic suspension, power steering... The very special design of his bodyshell is due to the pencil of the house stylist, the incredible Flaminio Bertoni to whom we also owe the 2 CV, the «Belphégor», the Traction.
Becoming timeless, the DS has never been really outdated. This incredible Citroën still holds the road well with a technology that admits more than half a century. Its comfort is still surprising both in terms of its seats and its hydraulic suspension. Braking, incredible at the time, remains very effective. All these qualities make that despite its age, the DS is still very comfortable in the current traffic.

In 1958, Henri Chapron, a French car body shop, was chosen by Citroën to design and manufacture the factory convertible. His creations will become collector’s items. The factory convertible followed the technical evolution of the sedan, and existed in version DS 19 (1960-1965), DS 21 (1965-1971) and DS 21 electronic injection (1969-1970).
If the Citroën DS sedan represented from 1955 the top of the French range in the minds of all, what then of its convertible version? At last his versions! That said, whether in unofficial versions (Croisette, Caddy, Palm Beach or Cabriolet, produced 236 copies between 1958 and 1972) or in «factory» version, all the DS convertibles worthy of interest were manufactured by one and the same «constructor»: Henri Chapron.
It was Chapron’s «unofficial» achievements that put Citroën on the path of an official version, integrated into the range and distributed by the network. Two years after the Croisette and Cabriolet, Citroën launched the DS Cabriolet (in August 1960) and its less «technological» ID version. At its launch, the DS 19 Cab has the 4-cylinder 1.9-liter 75 hp, while the ID receives an identical but less powerful engine (63 hp), but very quickly, both models received the same engine developing 83 hp.

The Ivanoff version uses the conversion principle initiated by Chapron. Executed in accordance with the rules of the art, they respect in all points the obligations of reinforcements of the cabriolets
"Factory." The "Ivanoff Kit" is homologated to transform a DS sedan into a magnificent convertible.
Our model is in an almost «competitive» state with a blank CT from March 2021, an official report attesting to its beautiful aesthetic condition, new tyres as well as its original tool/jack/spare wheel set. In its navy blue color, interior and night blue hood, this DS 21 convertible stands out for its tasteful elegance. The bodywork and rolling trains have been refurbished, repainted and treated. Start-up is easy and our test drive showed that the speed passes were flexible thanks to the semi-hydraulic gearbox, precise steering and effective braking. This DS Cabriolet was therefore redone in a certain taste for elegance; very comfortable and endearing, it will delight its next owner. This is what France did best when it came to cars in the late 1960s.
