- Ex-GIGN car
- Specific equipment
- One of the 5 delivered to the GIGN

When we talk about the Groupement d'Intervention de la Gendarmerie Nationale (GIGN), everyone remembers an image or a significant event, heard on the radio or seen on TV over the past 50 years. If the bravery and boldness of the GIGN men is no longer to be demonstrated, let us not forget that their extraordinary operations were also possible thanks to their unique intervention vehicles!
At the end of the 1980s, the CX reached the end of its career. It is a robust car, with proven reliability and a high loading capacity in its station wagon version. It was then chosen by the GIGN as a rapid response vehicle. Five copies were then ordered, and received specific equipment designed to improve the car's performance. To this end, the station wagons will be stripped of their air conditioning, radio, and other comfort elements, even removing the soundproofing felt found under the engine hood! On the mechanical side, the CX takes over the 138-horsepower 2.5-litre injection engine already built on the GTI, but this time coupled to a specific 5-speed short gearbox. But the must of the preparation most certainly lies in the assembly of a NOS kit (Nitrous Oxyde Systems), in other words a tank made up of a gas mixture connected to the injection allowing the car to gain 30 to 40% of power for nearly 5 minutes! To date, only 2 of the 5 copies initially entrusted to the GIGN remain. Ours is a third hand and has only covered just over 165,000 kilometres, currently equipped with a new engine that displays nearly 40,000 kilometres. This mythical station wagon still looks great even though it has never been restored. The grey velvet upholstery is well preserved, while the exhaust pipe and fuel pump relay have just been replaced to complete the car's recent restart.

This car will be sold by auction by AGUTTES Auction House, in La Ferté-Vidame, at the Citroën Centenary, France, on July the 21th, 2019.
