- Real Citroën showcar
Born in the 1990s, the concept of a new discoverable and versatile small city car is resurfacing; the will of Citroën's leaders who dream of relaunching the myth of the Méhari. This concept must be less rustic than the 1968 Méhari and just as versatile. Indeed, the main functions of the latter must be present, such as the pick-up, the convertible or the weather-resistant closed sedan. Citroën engineers, in partnership with Webasto, will develop this highly innovative concept. The canvas sunroof, tilting under the trunk floor and removable side arches will offer the expected modularity. Produced in Spain, the production car will be a real success in terms of esteem in the face of so much innovation, but a mixed commercial success in the face of so much complexity. The style model presented here is interesting for more than one reason. It already foreshadows what the standard C3 Pluriel will be, but with a very strong nod to the Méhari with its lateral striations on one of the sides, which will unfortunately not be retained on the production model. With this semi-full model, handmade by the brand's stylists, you will have one of the pieces of the brand's history with chevrons.
This car will be sold by auction by AGUTTES Auction House, in La Ferté-Vidame, at the Citroën Centenary, France, on July the 21th, 2019.
