Description
1922 CITROËN 10HP B2 TORPÉDO
French title
Chassis n° 66243
Engine n° 23156
- Reliable and elegant model
- Many period accessories
- Attractive torpedo body
Introduced into the Citroën range in mid-1921, the Type B2 succeeded the Type A, whose early teething problems had been addressed, as well as an upgrade with more powerful mechanicals. This robust and economical chassis could accommodate many body styles, the roadster being the most preferred by many customers at the time.
This is the case with this example, which belonged to an Abbot of Gailhan, in the Gard, as can be gathered by the compulsory police plate attached to the dashboard from then. Purchased in the Rhône region in 1994 by Mr. Thanry, this torpedo benefited from an old restoration, which will need to be done again. The dashboard is fitted with a Jaeger tachometer and an 8-day clock from the same brand. A "remote gauge" on the fuel filler cap lets you check the fuel level from the cabin, while beyond that, a water temperature gauge surmounts the radiator. This car has not been driven since 2012, thus it will need a complete overhaul and restart, before it can go back for relaxed drive in the countryside.
