1963 was a pivotal year for the Chevrolet Corvette – a massive leap forward that would completely alter the trajectory of “America’s Sports Car.” Based on two magnificent concept cars, Zora Arkus Duntov’s 1957 Q-Corvette and Bill Mitchell’s 1959 Sting Ray, the 1963 Corvette Sting Ray would shock the automotive world when it arrived in showrooms on September 28, 1962.

This 1963 Split-Window Coupe is the quintessential example of Chevrolet’s groundbreaking new Corvette design. Built on March 26, 1963, the striking coupe was finished in special Sebring Silver paint with black interior, and was reportedly equipped with tinted windows, AM Wonderbar radio, whitewall tires, the fearsome 360 hp fuel-injected 327 engine, optional M20 four-speed gearbox, and 3:70 Positraction rear end. After spending its early life in the Chicago area, the Corvette arrived in Pennsylvania in 1988 and received a frame-off restoration. Since completion, the car has spent its time as a coveted show vehicle, amassing eight NCRS Top Flight Awards, three Gold Spinner Awards, and a Best of Show at Chevy Vette Fest. Most recently, the consignor purchased the vehicle from Cooper Classics Collection of Greenwich Village, New York.
